Central Vietnam Coast Cycling Tour – 10 Days

Day 1: Hue Arrival (D)

Arrive in Hue by a flight from Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City. It is the old capital of Nguyen Dynasty with a ton of attractions and historical relics waiting for your exploration such as Hue Imperial City, Thien Mu Pagoda or King Tu Duc’s tomb. Spend the rest of the day after arriving in Hue in the morning discovering all of them together with an amazing dinner of royal dishes in the evening. Overnight in Hue.

Day 2: Hue – Lang Co Beach (B, L, D)

Start your cycling journey by following the coastline beautified by coconut palms and villages of local citizens. Ride to Phuoc Hung Hill before transferring to Lang Co Beach where lunch will be already served. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the beach. Overnight in Lang Co Beach resort.

Day 3: Lang Co – Hoi An Ancient Town (B, L, D)

Your challenge today is Hai Van Pass and your prize is the incredible views from the highest point. Then cycle downhill to Danang for your lunch and a short nap. Afterward, take a flat ride to Hoi An ancient town but stop at Marble Mountains, the complex of five elemental rocks representing Wood, Water, Metal, Fire, and Earth as well as China Beach sharing the same name with a famous American TV series.

After the two stops, continue the journey by a Hoi An cycling tour, one of the most vibrant trading center of foreign businessmen of Southeast Asia in the past. Nearly 850 constructions are the rich mix of Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese architectures which are worth your while to spend time wandering, sightseeing and enjoying the atmosphere filled by the past and history. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 4: Hoi An – My Son Holy Land – Hoi An (B, L)

Lengthen the historical journey by cycling to My Son Sanctuary, the Angkor Wat of Vietnam. Along the route to this heritage site, get a glimpse of scenic countryside with green lush paddy fields and meet friendly people living at small villages.

My Son Holy Land today is only the remnant of the greatest Champa city destroyed by bombs in the Vietnam War but still remains enough archaeological site to attract the bikers. Take a quick lunch and spend the afternoon visiting the relic. Before the sunset, transfer back to Hoi An and enjoy the second night at Hoi An ancient town.

Day 5: Hoi An – Quang Ngai (B, L, D)

It takes us 2.5 hours to travel to Quang Ngai then ride to My Lai where the crime of the Vietnam War is reflected by one of the worst massacres of the local caused by the American army. Visit the old temple, memorial, and museum nearby. Cycle through the quiet and peaceful countryside of Quang Ngai before returning to the Highway 1 to get back the hotel.

Day 6: Quang Ngai – Quy Nhon (B, L, D)

Leave Quang Ngai early in the morning to journey Quy Nhon, the capital of Binh Dinh province, the vital port and supply center in the Vietnam War. Move out of the dusty and busy section of the main road and cycle to Ba To Town where the locals are still getting used to the appearances of Western tourists. We use afternoon time to travel to Quy Nhon and visit the leper hospital which you can make small donations to help the disadvantaged victims there.

Day 7: Dieu Tri – Tuy Hoa (B, L, D)

Start the cycling at Dieu Tri, a remote area with the gently rolling terrain with astonishing views of the highland foothills. Pass the local villages where you can see potbellied pigs, slow buffalo, and barefoot children along the route. Finish the ride by looping back to the main highway then transfer to Tuy Hoa. Overnight in Tuy Hoa.

Day 8: Tuy Hoa – Whale Island (B, L, D)

The last and unforgettable cycling day ever since your riding path is filled by looming mountains and immense rice fields on the valley. Cycle 4km to reach Dai Lanh beach for enjoyment and water-based activities. Move on the cycling for 3km before getting Hon Gam peninsular road extending for 20km, which owns an extremely unique beauty you have never seen. There, change your vehicle into boat and head to Whale Island for 10km-journey. Overnight in Whale Island.

Total Cycling Distance: 58km

Day 9: Whale Island Leisure Time (B, D)

It is your free time to explore the island for beach relaxation or snorkeling and scuba diving. Overnight in Whale Island.

Day 10: Whale Island – Nha Trang Departure (B)
